Mission Statement
The Antiquated Sporting Society is a fellowship of athletes striving to engage in the advancement and promotion of antediluvian sports.
Vision:
We will facilitate a reemergence of haute cuisine, elaborate cocktails, fanciful vestments, polite debauchery, and reverent spectation in the context of aristocratic recreation.
Mission:
- To resurrect the genteel and polite athletic past-times of a bygone era
- To secure a venue by which these can regularly be enjoyed
- To engage in contests of physical prowess amidst idiosyncratic luxury, amenities, and ostentation
- To reaffirm faith in fundamental Victorian axioms, mores, and ideals
Values:
In pursuit of the society's interests, we put Sport before Society, Society before convention, and a cocktail hour before all. We do what matters.
- Our success depends on our ability to masterfully and graciously meld gala gatherings and events of a sporting nature
- We provide jovial abandon and the wit and whimsy of days of yore.
- Our mission requires lighthearted gaiety, occasional intemperance and strength sufficient to wield a light-weight mallet or racquet.
- We accomplish feats others cannot, often at no substantial risk. When the stakes are highest and the wickets widest, we are there and there first, mint julep in hand.
- We stand by, between, behind and betwixt one another, depending on which is the most athletically advantageous array given the circumstances. Feigned athleticism, stubborn insobriety, and plethorically opulent garb are our hallmarks.
