The Ongoing Controversy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

We have been informed that The Concerned Citizens for a Racquet Free World, a right-wing shadow organization, has begun a city-wide smear campaign targeted against the Antiquated Sporting Society's First Annual Badminton Tourney. Formed in the early 1900s by ball-based sporting enthusiast Ramon Grijalva, the CCRFW gained worldwide recognition when it was established as a personal prelature to FIFA in 1982 by then president Joćo Havelange. In the resulting decades, the CCCRFW has been regarded with suspicion and distrust by racquet and non-ball based sporting enthusiasts, and has been rumored to be in close association with prominent professional sport commissioners such as Bud Selig and David Stern. In their most recent campaign to derail the First Annual Badminton Tourney, they have released a short commercial that is being aired in Upstate New York. The commercial can be viewed below:

It is obvious that these are serious accusations. The Society's cause, however, has been bolstered by a heartening groundswell of support from members of the community who believe, like us, that badminton is a pillar of a civilized and joyous society, not a tool of death. After our grassroots supporters took to the streets to clash with CRFW, the entire saga was featured on local news. We have obtained a copy for viewing on our site:

In light of these serious accusations and developments, we hope that you remain enthusiastic about the upcoming Badminton Tourney. We have put a lot of effort into planning what we believe will be an amazing event, and we look forward to your attendance. Registration spots are disappearing, so if you are interested in coming, please do not hesitate to register by clicking the current events link on the left. Stay tuned for further updates, and we hope to see you in September!
